Y'know, this problem has been talked about before, but it needs to be said...

Who gives a shit? This is a board for filmmaking...you want to talk about Hollywood self-congratulatory backslapping, go do it somewhere else.

I'm not trying to be aggressive or offensive, but this board is going down the shitter recently. I haven't been here that long and the number of posts about the practice of making a movie have fallen drastically.

I'm about to embark on my first "proper" short film and I come here for inspiration...people are now just content to wank on about uberturd George Lucas.

I don't think there has ever been truely great filmmaking topics in here. Only technical topics - which are useful, obviously, but we never get into more creative discussions.

These best film, best director type topics could turn into interesting filmmaking discussions if people would let them.

If you don't like these topics then simply don't click on them, its not like they're taking up valuable space.

for those of you that think hollywood sucks then I feel very bad for you. People that hate Hollywood are people who aren't any good at making movies and can't keep up with others. So they pick the biggest target(Hollywood). You say Hollywood sucks then chances are you are in your 30's and still looking for a job. Well I'm 16 and I think hollywood rocks.

Kid, at least realise that two of the best films of recent tmes, Amelie and Crouching Tiger were forgein. Memento was good too, not really Hollywood. I'm 20, I'm a film-student and I don't hate Hollywood. But it's not the be all and end all. It produces an amazing amount of awful crap among the odd entertaining film.

I don't think that's true. One can dislike Hollywood and still be a great filmmaker. It's just a fact that this forums is a place for discussions about low-budget film making.

On the other hand I don't mind talking about Hollywood productions because it can be an interresting base to discuss the differences between the 'big guys' and us low-budget/amateur film makers.
